The Cunniff Group Cares Forms Partnership with The Newton Community Service Center

Newton, Mass — The Cunniff Group Cares, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching local communities through supporting youth programs has formed a new partnership with The Newton Community Service Center, a nonprofit, multi-service organization that strengthens individual, family, and community life through a network of support services and educational programs.

The Newton Community Service Center promotes social, emotional, and physical wellness and continuity of care for all ages. The agency serves a racially, ethnically and culturally diverse population regardless of economic circumstances from Newton , Waltham , and surrounding communities.

The Cunniff Group Cares is especially interested in the Newton Community Service Center 's Child Assault Prevention Program ( CAP ) which teaches a curriculum that is gauged towards elementary school children. The program instructs its participants in simple strategies to reduce their vulnerability to verbal, physical and sexual assault and violence. In partnership with schools, approximately 80 trained and supervised CAP volunteers work as Prevention Specialists.

As the founder of The Cunniff Group Cares, Shawn Cunniff feels it is important to take part in a vital program to the city of Newton . The Cunniff Group Cares' mission directly aligns with CAP as they strive to provide emotional and educational assistance to at-risk youth. Within CAP , children are involved in programs that provide age-appropriate classroom workshops where they learn to use skills to become confident problem solvers and develop the capacity to recognize uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situations.

In hopes of giving fundamental assistance to CAP that will bolster their presence in the Newton community, The Cunniff Group Cares has initially pledged to donate $500 each year for three years. In addition to this pledge, Shawn Cunniff will volunteer as a Prevention Specialist within the Newton School System. Shawn said, “In years to come, the Foundation anticipates that their involvement monetarily as well as annually should increase. This is an exciting partnership and I am very happy to be a part of the growth of this program.”
